Apparitions was an audio visual installation directed by makeAMPLIFY, created and performed by the residents of Stratford featured in the official opening of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. Working from an empty shop on the high street for 3 months, participants from all ages, abilities and backgrounds shared their experiences of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and how it affected their daily lives. The resulting installation featured an original soundtrack by Danbeats and larger-than-life dance projections of the local residents video mapped to the 45-metre tall chimney tower of the Cofely District Energy Centre. The only original building retained throughout the redevelopment of the park site, the Cofely Energy Centres provide all the power to both the park and Westfield Shopping Centre. They won the 2013 RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Award for National Design.
Apparitions was commissioned by London Legacy Development Corporation for the Emerging East Program as part of Open East; and is supported by East London Dance, Newham Council and Cofely District Energy.
